Aims & Objectives

The EGBA is a non profit-making association acting on behalf of businesses in and around East Grinstead. Its aims and objectives are set by its members to serve their interests and represent their views.

The EGBA has three sections: Retail, Service Sector and Business Parks. Each is run by a sub committee, two members of which serve on the Executive Committee that runs the Association.

We are committed to providing a range of services for our members which include:-

a)         Resolving Local Issues:  such as security issues involving the police, access or parking issues involving the County Council, or a service fault involving a utility company. The EGBA maintains contacts with all relevant authorities and can take up issues on behalf of members allowing them to continue running their business while the problem gets resolved, often with more weight than by a lone business.

b)         Networking and Events:  for businesses for whom local contacts and relationships are an important part of doing business. These are varied and include social networking as well as meetings with speakers on business related topics.

c)        Training: providing access for members to business service providers, both national agencies or independent consultancies that provide professional advice and training in the running of businesses, often on a free or heavily discounted basis.

d)         Representing Members: by facilitating a consensus view amongst the membership on issues they want taken up with local government or with any statutory authority, and then representing this view professionally to ensure that it is fully taken into account in any future decision making.

e)         Newsletter: keeping the membership appraised on a monthly basis on all live issues and their development, on association and other local business events and on relevant training courses and new government legislation.
