12 Aug Covid-19 business grant funding tops £48 million
Mid Sussex District Council has paid the final Covid-19 business support grants, now having allocated a total of £48.5 million to help local businesses through the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Government has provided a range of grant schemes to help businesses cope with the challenges they faced because of Covid-19. Mid Sussex District Council allocated the funding on behalf of the Government and over the last 15 months has paid 7,200 grants.
Restart grants have helped businesses to reopen safely after social restrictions were lifted and now is the time for the community to support them and help the local economy to recover from the damage of the pandemic.
Councillor Stephen Hillier, Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth said:
“It’s been such a tough 18 months for local businesses and without this financial support from the Government, I have no doubt that many would not have been able to survive. I’m incredibly proud of our Revenues and Benefits team because they have done a magnificent job of processing 7,200 applications sympathetically but carefully and distributing funding quickly to help local businesses through the pandemic.
“Our local businesses need your support, now more than ever, as they bid to get back on their feet. If we shop locally and give our custom to Mid Sussex service providers, collectively we can kickstart our local economy, help businesses bounce back strongly and save jobs.”
