CLINICAL TRIAL WITH ALLOTEX

Centre for Sight is the first company in the UK to run a trial with Mr Sheraz Daya. The Allotex trial is collecting data on the outcomes of patients who undergo their corneal inlay procedure at Centre for Sight. This is a refractive procedure meaning it is an elective surgical procedure performed to remove the need for near vision or reading glasses – and it is free for the patient.

During the procedure, an inlay made from human corneal tissue is implanted in the cornea. This inlay changes the shape of your cornea to improve your near vision without the use of glasses. We would like to invite any EGBA member who is interested in taking part, first step is to go through screening questions with one of our Patient Liaison team over a phone call.

Initial screening questions are –

1. Are you between ages 45 – 65?
2. Do you only need glasses for reading? Do you need glasses for driving? This is to confirm your distance vision is good and that you don’t require distance glasses
3. Have you had previous eye surgery?
4. Do you have dry eyes, or do you use lubrication drops regularly? If you do, we could advise you to start doing warm compresses prior to your appointment.
