09 Mar Gatwick Airport Northern Runway Consultation
Below is ashort update on current operations & plans for 2022 from the quarterly meeting of Gatcom, the Gatwick Consultative Committee:
1: Numerous new & returning routes building passenger numbers all of the time.
2: Government will remove the slot waiver for Summer 2022 so we should see unused slots start to be taken up.
3: South Terminal will re-open on 27th March & the airport is listing in the region of 5,000 vacancies as demand starts to go up.
4: The main runway to be resurfaced this April & this requires use of the Northern Runway when the works are being carried out, mostly at night.
5: There’s a new electric vehicle charging station being built while the railway station is on track (forgive me) for the grand opening in 2023.
6: Sustainable Aviation Fuel is being introduced on routes from Gatwick
