11 Dec Mims Davies MP welcomes announcement Mid Sussex will receive £1 million through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)
The UK Government’s Levelling Up White Paper sets out an ambitious plan to transform the UK, providing opportunity and prosperity to all of our communities. A £2.6 billion fund is central to achieving this as a significant component of the Government’s nationwide support. It replicates and succeeds a fund previously administered by the EU, however, unlike the previous fund which allowed Brussels to determine how it was spent, the UK Government has worked with local leaders, who best understand their communities, to focus on their priorities.
Across the UK this funding will be invested in domestic projects and targeted where it is needed most. Nationally this will include community facilities projects and those which culture a greater sense of local pride, alongside support for local businesses to help in their innovation, and support for individuals to improve their skills and so increasing life chances.
Every part of the UK will receive an allocation for the years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, for both the core UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and for the adult numeracy programme, Multiply.
Commenting, Mims Davies MP said: “I’m absolutely delighted Mid Sussex will receive £1 million through the new UK Shared Prosperity Fund over the next three years provided by Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and it reflects the quality of our bid and that Mid Sussex will be part of this important next stage as we look to level up our country. I look forward to seeing them bring forward their projects focused around investment in community hubs, parks and events alongside additional skills training for young people in the District who are seeking employment. I look forward to seeing the difference it makes to our communities and how this will impact brilliant projects and organisations who deliver great things in our community.”
