East Grinstead Conservation Area Appraisal
MSDC has prepared an updated appraisal for our Conservation Area.
The Draft East Grinstead Conservation Area Appraisal sets out the special features and interesting history of the Conservation Area, as well as management proposals to preserve and enhance its character, including some important proposed boundary changes.
A public consultation is underway until Monday 29 July.

There will be a public meeting about the Draft Appraisal and Management Proposals, and MSDC Officers will be on hand to answer any questions.

Gatwick Airport Expansion Plans
The first Board Meeting of the new owners of Gatwick Airport and existing management took place on Thursday 27 June to agree the conversion of the emergency runway into a fully operational second runway. Options to utilise adjacent land for future development are expected to remain.
MSDC is working hard to encourage Gatwick management to properly engage with neighbours and to invest in incremental infrastructure capacity improvements to ensure adverse impact on neighbouring towns and villages is minimised.
Regrettably, following consultation late in 2018, Gatwick has chosen not to respond to submissions regarding their new 5 Year Gatwick Master Plan 2018/19-23. During this period, they intend to invest £3.14billion in improving and expanding capacity. This will provide facilities to manage passenger numbers which will quickly grow to rival those of Heathrow today.

Micro business grants
I am pleased to have been elected Chairman of MSDC’s Cabinet Grants Panel and to have Cllr Stephen Hillier, Cabinet Member for Economic Development as Vice-Chairman.
We recently approved approximately £87 000 to local businesses and community organisations in East Grinstead and Crawley Down.
