Waitrose Manager James Clarke delivers a Masterclass to Imberhorne pupils

James Clarke took to the classroom this week for an hour out of his busy schedule to deliver a Masterclass on Retail, Marketing, Product Design and Production, Finance, and the Purchasing process to this years Imberhorne Young Enterprise Company Programme A level students and ImberEntrePreneurs.

The one hour business lesson had a very important theme. How to get a product on the Waitrose shelf by Christmas. Although he implied it was a tough target he said it was actually possible and promised to come back in two weeks if they had a suitable quality prototype to offer Waitrose customers.

As most of them share the second largest hobby of gardening I think they are in poll position to develop something rather special which is already on the drawing board so watch this space.

Peter Dolphin, pictured in the classroom is also a local retired businessman and fifth generation entrepreneur and was delighted to pick up the gauntlet when the opportunity to be their Business Mentor became available earlier this term.

We all look forward to seeing how Bee Sensible (a life saving social enterprise that starts with the Bees) evolves, in the hope that they can earn their place in the 2018 Young Enterprise Company Programme UK final and beyond.
